This Blog is designed to help anyone who needs help with math. I post solutions to math problems by working them out in front of my own class full of students.

So many years and so many studies and still math education has been manly unchanged. Why is this so?  There have been multiple efforts to remove rote memorization and introduce creative investigation.  Mathalicious and others argue that if math is not relevant then students have no desire to learn the information. Others argue that math education needs to get with the times and use more technology.  Some argue that we need to go back to the way we used to teach math. Students do not carry the basic skills to excel in higher mathematics. Students should be using more technology when learning concepts.
So who has the best point with this? What do we really need enact to improve math education?  The answer: All of it.  Pretty cop out answer right? Well each and every point has it's place and it is important for us to be able to bring these topics up for discussion.  However we cannot rely on one single method to save us from the perils of troubling math scores and a decrease in the amount of US students who score higher on standardized tests than their foreign counterparts. I would really appreciate your input as I gather together my thoughts on this issue
